I think that we not a little have groups in school. It is natural for us to have group. Because there are many people in school, and we have little chance to know everyone. People usually think that “it is ok to have some friends.” Of course, the more they have friends, the more their radius of action and their horizons broaden. But it is important for us to cultivate closer relationships with some friends.
In the U.S it seems that they have a strong group consciousness. On the other hand, in Japan it seems that they don’t care of whether they belong to any group. They just want to be with friends with whom they are compatible.

P.S.”the more their radius of action and their horizons broaden” は正しいけど"broaden their horizons"はよく使う
でも、大丈夫です!英語は上手ですね!
祐未さん、こんにちは。タミーです。(始めまして。)
私もそう考えます。友達と一緒にいるのは何等かのグループなどより大切なことですね。
I think the same thing. Being with friends is more important than belonging to any particular group.
